Making 2014 The Best Year Yet!

Making 2014 The Best Year Yet!

I know this is a little off topic but I thought I would take the time to share things that have helped me accomplish my goals last year.

Every year we find new gimmicks or products to help us achieve our personal goals. Some people find them self paying thousand of dollars on gym memberships and personal development courses. Some of us achieve our goals and others find themselves loosing motivation very quickly. There are many paths on the pursuit to happiness but which actually work?

Here is a list of FREE products I have personally used to help keep me on track:

Whether your goals are large or small, Lift reminds you to accomplish your "wins" for the day. You can select goals like push ups, running, meditating, reading, and random acts of kindness. You can also create your own goals if it isn't listed. There is a large community there that can see your activity, comment, and build relationships to help stay focused along the way.

Losing weight is not easy but it is vital for longevity and production. With My Fitness Pal you get all the tools you need to successfully lose the weight. I was trying to trim up some for a cruise a couple years back. This app was constantly in my face reminding me to log my calories and made me very aware of what I was eating. The food we eat directly reflex our energy levels and metabolism. This app has a bar code scanner and portion tool to make it easy for you to log your meals.

If you haven't figured it out by now, as we age, our metabolism slows down. I have ALWAYS hated running but found it to be one of the only effective methods of dropping those unwanted pounds. Something else happened though. The more I ran, the easier it became. The easier it became, the more I ACTUALLY enjoyed it. WEIRD! This app is synced up to the GPS on my phone and has lots of really cool features. The notifications it provides are a must for my busy schedule.

Trying to memorize all your personal and business passwords is just plain dumb. Whether, I'm making a list for my next Home Depot run or a checklist for my next camping trip, this app has me covered. It has the ability to act like a virtual filing cabinet and gives you options for sharing with other people. Love this app!

Home Routines- (nominal fee)
Even though this one isn't free, the value it provides is worth $4.99. Managing a home is tough! My home is managed by my wife and I which is even tougher because we both work full time and have two boys to cater to. Home Routines is an app that allows you to create zones and customize cleaning duties for your house. It also give you the capability to sync with multiple people on one account so everyone has the same info.

Creating a schedule, especially if you own your own business, is a must. Without a schedule many tasks are not performed in a timely manner or forgotten. With this app it is easy to categorize your tasks and even set them for certain times of the day. Very handy to have access to your schedule any time in the form of an app.

Sleep is crucial to mental and physical fitness. If you lack the proper amount of sleep for the day it will affect everything else. I have a hard time turning my mind off at night. I found having some white noise in the background help drown out the thoughts and background noise. This app has many sounds to choose from and helps me get to sleep much faster.

I hope you find these apps useful in the coming year. If you use any of these apps, I encourage you to share your experience in the comments below.

American War Machines wishes you a prosperous and productive 2014!

Remember most of all, our time on this earth is limited. Do not get so wrapped up on goals that you forget about the things that actually matter like family and friends. It is our relationships that make us continue to love life and want to be prosperous. You may find when you are lost, the people that love and care about you are the only motivation you really need! Right?
